Overlooking the sea of Sorrento, Luxe sur Mer is an elegant and intimate retreat where Mediterranean beauty meets timeless stories.

Its name means “luxury by the sea, ” perfectly capturing the atmosphere of the B&B: a refined yet welcoming place designed for travelers looking for a relaxing stay on the Sorrento Coast.

The inspiration behind Luxe sur Mer, however, comes from something even older — Greek mythology.

The myth of the sirens

According to legend, the waters surrounding Sorrento are connected to one of the most famous episodes of the Odissea by Omero.

During his journey home from Troy, the hero Ulisse sailed through these dangerous seas inhabited by the sirens — mythical creatures whose enchanting voices lured sailors toward the rocks.

Among the most famous sirens were:

  • Parthenope

  • Ligeia

  • Leucosia

They were believed to live near the islands of Li Galli, off the coast between Sorrento and Positano.

With the help of the goddess Atena, Ulysses managed to hear the sirens without falling under their spell.

The rooms of Luxe sur Mer

Inspired by these legends, the rooms of Luxe sur Mer are named after mythological figures connected to this story:

  • Ligeria, inspired by the siren Ligeia

  • Parthenope, linked to the origins of Naples

  • Ulisse, the legendary traveler

  • Athena, the goddess of wisdom

Each room reflects the timeless connection between myth, sea and Mediterranean beauty.
